Hello and Welcome!  You've found your way to:

THE 98-CENT YACHT

Right now, we're under construction as you can see, but if you're curious about what a "98 Cent Yacht" might be, then bookmark this page and check back from time to time. If you're interested in boating, boat building and design; ways to get good boats and yachts for little money; if you want to learn new skills and gain knowledge or if you own a boat and want to find out ways to save money in maintenance and refitting, then this probably is your kind of page.

I'm really glad you did drop by though, and while I'm working to get this page going, here are a couple marine related pages that you'll find interesting. First, is my main commercial web for my design services. Click on the logo below.

Chuck's Latest!

Chuck's Nautical Photo Album

Here are some pictures and mini webs of friends and clients boats, adventures, and photos of general interest to boat fans. This page is just getting underway, so check back now and then to see what's new!

AMICA - Peter Sutherland's beautiful newly refitted Colvin GAZELLE. One of the most worthwhile boats and best amateur refits that I've seen in a long time!

HIGH SEA - Casey Marler's 38' Atkin Ingrid. Casey's been working on his boat for about 7 years, starting from a bare hull. He finally made good his threat to escape South Park. Here's the move to Olympia.

LADYBUG - Here's Nick Adamo's great rendering of Jay Benford's 32' Trawler. Fundamentally the same boat as writer Ernest K. Gann's STRUMPET, but about 2 feet longer. Great Northwest Boat!

TENNESSEE - Dick Welch built this Bolger Tennessee in record time back in 1987-88. He followed the plans exactly and wonder of wonders, building the boat as the designer drew it worked out just fine!

Bill Samson has been taking a vacation from building bigger boats and has turned his craftsmanship to Kayaks. On this page are a few random scans of his baidarka and a folding kayak in progress.
